description of the main ingredients:
MILK WHEY (CHEESE WHEY)
Milk whey is a by-product that is obtained in the production of cheese, cream cheese and casein. Kennels' Favourite Whey Pastils are produced on the basis of dried milk whey, which is left over from the production of Dutch cheese: the so-called cheese whey. The production process of milk into whey forms the basis of the production of one of the most important dairy products: cheese. Cheese is obtained by separating the most important elements of milk, particularly fat, and the main constituent of the protein-casein of the liquid. This liquid that is left after the separation process is known as ‘whey'. Milk whey contains almost all of the salts and micro-elements of milk, as well as water-soluble vitamins: cheese whey contains much more of them than the whey of cream cheese. The dry mass amounts to around 6%. That means that half of the useful elements remain in the whey. It contains all the necessary nutritional elements except fat, but whey still contains very important elements from a physiological standpoint, namely the so-called whey proteins. Whey protein is a product with a high protein content and a very low, almost negligible level of carbohydrate and (essential) fats. The products of cheese whey are therefore of great importance for older animals, as well as for animals which have overweight and those who are inactive. Whey proteins contain more essential amino acids than casein, and also contain complete albuminoidal substances, which are used by the organism for the structural metabolism, mainly for the synthesis of the liver protein and the formation of haemoglobin and plasma. Whey protein more closely resembles the protein that is found in mother's milk than that in cow milk. Whey protein can therefore be used in the production of baby milk. Milk fat crumbles, and it is therefore better absorbed by the body. Dry cheese whey contains the following essential substances: lactose, which is made up of more than 70% dry material; protein substances, which contain a high number of amino acids; all the vitamins from the B-group; calcium and magnesium and probiotic bacteria. Lactose brings about slow hydrolysis in the intestines: this process limits fermentation, normalises the intestinal flora, and combats decomposition and gasification. In addition, lactose is used less in the formation of fat in the body. Daily consumption of whey is a good way of strengthening immunity. The organism needs cheese whey to build up and fortify the musculature, the organs and the nerve cells. Kennels' Favourite Whey Pastils with vitamins and minerals are recommended as a daily nutrient for your dog, and can help to remove an excess of cholesterol and toxins from the body.
Thanks to the elements that the milk contains, and the biological qualities of the whey, we can regard them as a valuable manufactured substance.
We can therefore say without any doubt: whey is a product of the future.
MILK YEAST
Kennels' Favourite Whey Pastils are saturated with milk yeast (from milk whey), which gives the vitamins a special aroma and flavour. Milk yeast from milk whey is rich in proteins, and is enriched with vitamin B complex and other vitamins. It promotes the stimulation of the appetite and contributes to a full and glossy coat. But most important of all: milk yeast contains a large number of beneficial living micro-organisms that curb the growth of conditional pathogens and pathogenic microflora and are therefore vitally important for the intestinal flora. Milk yeast microbes have the ability to significantly inhibit the growth of decomposition bacteria. Scientific tests have proved that milk yeast gives off an antibiotic substance that is formed by acidophilic bacteria. By boosting resistance against harmful bacteria, milk yeast helps the body to fight off substances that are damaging to the health, thus preventing premature ageing of the body. At the same time, milk yeast has an exceptionally beneficial effect on the blood and the nervous system. Milk yeast (from milk whey) contains high levels of vitamin E, nicotinic acid, pantothenic acid, vitamin H (biotin), vitamin B12, folic acid and vitamin C. This type of compound helps your cat maintain a balanced and active metabolism.
DEXTROSE MONOHYDRATE (MAIZE SUCROSE)
Scientific name: Meritose
Dextrose is a nutrient that contains carbohydrates. Dextrose is a white, sweet, water-soluble crystalline powder with no aftertaste. It is formed from a basis of starch and glycogen, together with cellulose. The end product contains no less than 99.5% dextrose and 0.5% maltose (brewer's sugar) in dry form: the moisture content amounts to no more than 9%. Dextrose plays a role in various metabolic processes, strengthening the redox processes and improving the antioxidant function of the liver. Within the tissues, dextrose is converted into glucose-6-phosphate, which is extremely active in the various phases of the metabolism and provides energy to living cells. During the metabolic processing of dextrose, a large amount of energy, which is necessary for the life of the organism, is released in the tissues. Dextrose improves the metabolism: it strengthens the antioxidant function of the liver, dilates the blood vessels and improves diuresis (the working of the bladder).
VITAMIN-B-COMPLEX (B1-B2-B6-B12)
The B-group is the largest of the groups of vitamins, containing no less than 20 different substances. The combination of B-group vitamins plays an extremely important role, and it is therefore futile to only buy Vitamin B2 , and to begin a course of treatment with that, if no other B-group vitamins are administered.
All Kennels' Favourite Whey Pastils contain an element from the Vitamin- B -complex which is vital for the health of dogs and cats:
B1 - thiamin
B2 - riboflavin
B6 - pyridoxine
B12 – cyanocobalamine
Vitamin B1 (thiamin) is a vitamin against neuroses. Vitamin B1 has a positive influence on muscle function and the nervous system: it is a composite of enzymes that regulates many important functions of the organism, especially the carbohydrate metabolism and the metabolisation of amino acids. This vitamin is necessary for the normal functioning of the central and periphery nervous system.
Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) influences the growth and regeneration of the cells; it plays a major role in the oxidation process of all tissues in the human body, as well as in the regulation of the carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism. It stimulates the action of the abdominal organs. This vitamin supports the normal working of the eyes to an important degree. Riboflavin is a component of rhodopsin, and protects the retina against the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays.
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) plays a part in the protein and fat metabolism in the animal organism. Muscles need it, and together with calcium it aids their normal working and relaxation.
Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamine) is necessary for a healthy nervous system and for the proper functioning of the liver. It helps the organism in the production of red blood cells, and also aids the metabolism.
